Mobile Recording Studio – Shortlisted (from over 130 global entries)

We designed a demountable pod to enable BBC Radio 4 to record ‘the listening project’ across the country. The design was a runner up in the national competition run by the broadcaster.

There was a comprehensive acoustic strategy which ensured that the external structure of the pod could perform to Rw 58 dB, including an acoustic lobby leading into the pod. The insulation used for reducing external noises, would also help to keep the internal temperature at comfortable levels throughout the year.

The pod would have low speed and noise fans to ventilate it in use.
