We have undertaken a design for 11 apartments on Commercial Street, Newport.

We were asked by our client to convert the existing first, second and third floor of an existing building into, what turned out to be, 11 apartments.

Key to its success was to maintain the open plan retail unit on the ground floor, which couldn’t have any staircases or other circulation reducing its commercial value.

We also needed to creatively reuse the existing, historic facade, which was integral to maintaining the interesting street scene onto Commercial Street.
